When Dad doesn’t get your Ke$ha poems…

… we’re here for you.

Let’s face it, we can’t always rely on family and friends to give us the kind of focused editorial feedback or manuscript review we really need. If you’re preparing a sample to send out for contests, graduate programs, or submissions, or if you need an extra set of qualified eyes on a manuscript or series, ask about our Manuscript Review services. If you’d like more of a mentoring relationship, with individual tutoring and feedback or instructive support, we have One-on-One Masterclasses & Mentoring available. Looking for strict line edits only, from an editor’s perspective? Or, instructive feedback to develop your craft? We’ve got you covered.

Hone your work to its best vision, with editorial services designed just for you.

  • a written summary evaluation of the overall manuscript.

During the Chapbook Bootcamp, your mentor will initially discuss your goals and vision for your manuscript via email, then, upon receiving your manuscript, she or he will give you an honest and unbiased read and a healthy dose of constructive criticism on both the form and the content of your manuscript.

Following the first review, you will have the opportunity to rework and resubmit your manuscript or individual pieces for a new set of margin comments and a written evaluation.

Included:

  • Initial goal setting email exchange and follow up questions via email.
  • In-depth manuscript review including in-line/margin manuscript comments and revision suggestions, and a
  • detailed, written evaluation of the overall manuscript.
  • Your mentor will be available for an in-person follow-up phone call or Skype session to discuss revision strategies.
  • After the first review and mentoring session, you will have the opportunity to revise and resubmit the manuscript for follow up written feedback.
  • Your mentor will provide you with a list of suggested presses/contests that may be appropriate for your manuscript.*

* Suggestions will include presses that have published similar work or have been amenable to the style or subject matter with which you are working. Suggestions are no guarantee of publication. Your mileage may vary.

One-on-One Mentorships & Other Services

ApiaryLit mentors can help whether you are sweating the big things or the small stuff. We can offer you:

  • Help strategizing next year’s MFA applications…. or just another set of eyes on your Statement of Purpose
  • Guidance on how to put together a book proposal… or just help with an agent/editor pitch?
  • Tips, tricks, and feedback on artist’s statements and professional docs like CVs, resumes, or cover letters.
  • Copy-edit services for book-length projects or digital or visual/graphic manuscripts.

Or are you working on something else altogether that doesn’t fit the above categories? Use our contact form below to explain your goals and our Director of Editorial Services will contact you about how ApiaryLit can help you reach them.

We will work with you to pick a mentor, develop a schedule, and budget a cost based on a variety of factors, including (but not limited to) the size and scope of the project, the nature and amount of communication required to complete the program, and an estimated time commitment required of the mentor.

Note: we will not charge you any fees for individualized mentoring until both the scope and the timeline of your mentorship have been agreed on by both you and your proposed mentor.

Please contact us below to discuss options for your next project!
